Essay

There are psychological reasons that American politicians do not use the “Genius of the And” is because humans are wired to think that if I have this then I cannot have that, our brains are programmed to think that we need this or that, not we need this and that. Trying to convince ones brain to think in means of this and that and not this or that, is really hard. Mentally a person cannot grasp the fact that they can have both things and not always make a choice between two things.

Socially American leaders do not use the “And” because they think that we benefit from this or that not this and that. If we keep this program then we cannot fund this program. If we want this benefit then that benefit has to go. It is never we can have this benefit and this benefit or this program and that program. Socially our leaders see making the or decision is better and that people will vote for them because by keeping this and getting rid of that, the leader has helped to decrease spending. As Americans we are overly concerned with the spending our politics are doing and not what the full repercussions of the leaders making this or that decisions.

The culture in America is so diverse and using the “And” decision in politics can cause problems in these diverse culture. Some cultures see having everything you desire as being greedy or just concerned with what you want and not what you already have. Some cultures believe that in life one have to make choices about what they want or what they have to make one work harder for what they do have. Some cultures believe that having this and this is too much and creates citizens who expect more than what they need.
