The Glass Menagerie is about the tough decisions people make for their own that affects others and also themselves. Characters present in the selection have their own ways of escaping the brutalities of life.

Amanda, who had been abandoned by her husband some 16 years ago, left with their child who has a crippled foot, named Laura. She was obsessed living in her past wherein she had been courted by her countless admirers. And in that way, she also wants her daughter to experience the same thing as she had before. However, Laura who was a shy, loner and has a crippled foot was spending most of her time in collecting glass animal figurines. She never experience being courted by a guy just like her mother before. This is the reason behind why Amanda asked her older brother, Tom to bring home his friend who will be interesting in dating her younger sister. However, Tom is the older brother of Laura wherein he used to watch movie in the cheap cinema to get rid of his boredom after his work. So he decided to bring his nice friend named, Jim. Jim lives in his high school wherein he is a hero. He might be the long-waited suitor for Laura. But when this guy came up, she eventually knew that he is the man she loved in high school. During the time they were together, Jim asked Laura to dance and he accidentally brushes against the glass menagerie, breaking the unicorn’s horn and looks like the other horse. And Jim told her that he was engaged to a girl named Betty and he leave the house. Laura is still waiting for her gentleman to court her. Moreover, Mr. Wingfield has the best of his escape because abandoning his family set him free from their present way of living.
