The Homosexuality, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 262

Research Paper

Homosexuality is a very controversial subject. Conservatives consider it as a sin, church finds it as a result of the wrong upbringing and gay people themselves view it either as a disease or a choice but more as their unique identity. To homosexuals it is about who they really are, what is their character and perception of things.

The roots of homosexuality might not have been fully understood, but it is a common sense that as any kind of love, phenomenon of being gay is a complex and varied one. To date there exists no specific scientific study that clearly explains the topic. However, there exist numerous assumptions. Majority of the scientists consider sexual orientation to be the result of the interaction of biological, cognitive and environmental factors. People’s orientation is usually shaped up at the early stage of their upbringing and development. And as there is still no full explanation, it is important to understand that sexual orientation involves much more factors and reasons.

Another assumption that scientists have is that homosexuality is genetic. There exists no proof of this statement. However, the topic has been so numerously raised in public that many people believe it to be true. But scientists argue that there were many cases of people turning from homosexuality to heterosexuality and enjoying it. There was no gene found in gay people to prove that it is genetic.

Today people view homosexuality as normal and natural. Scientists have currently renewed their interest in finding a true explanation of being a homosexual. So probably very soon people will have a proofed explanation.
