Introduction
Incarceration has long been used as a form of punishment for criminals as they intend to engage in scrupulous acts that often subject them to particular anomalies in the society. Practically, incarceration allowed for the chance of these individuals being isolated away from the public; thus preventing them from committing particular crimes against their fellowmen. The aspect of incarceration aims to protect the victims [and other possible partakers to the crime] as well as provide the oppressors a chance to see the wrongness of their act thus creating a well-mandated change among themselves as they try to engage in better options of development that would supposedly help them take a better approach to living their lives [even when they are still living within the constraints of prison life.
The experiment handled herein intends to reestablish the thought of what incarceration is about and how it feels to be confided within a room without any possible resources of entertainment that could help keep up with the time. Utilizing the most effective approach to investigation and observation, this experiment shall help set the mood thus determining a course of reality on how the experiment itself relates to the actual situation that incarcerated mates experience when they are living within the constraint of their prison cells. It is assumed that through this experience, the creation of connection between reality, theories and speculations could be solidified in relation to how they actually function to provide what is assumed as effective approaches to criminal justice.
The Experience
In this section of the discussion, a presentation on how the expectations were responded to through the experiences noted during the experiment procedures shall be given specific attention to. Relatively, these experiences are expected to provide the most convenient way of relatively showing what possibilities are to be given attention to especially in responding to the need of disciplining the society and guiding them through the use of effective policies that are designed to keep them at bay thus making a distinct impact on how they behave around their fellowmen.
The Expectations
Boredom was a primary course of response that was expected to happen especially in line with what ten hours of doing nothing while confined in solitude within a room would actually feel like. Nevertheless, I also expected to learn something from the experience especially in relation to how I am likely going to survive this challenge. Given ten hours of time sample, I do think that this experiment would provide me the determination I need to fully understand what incarceration means and how it is actually affecting the justice system and the operations’ power to improve the manner by which the society progresses accordingly.
First Five Hours
The first five hours of the experience provided me with the supposed picture of development in attitudinal reflection of those who are incarcerated in jails. As expected, I did not really feel the boredom immediately. The pen and paper I had in my hand kept me in company. The book I had with me also gave me a better sense of the time that I had to spend inside the room in full isolation. The fact that I was kept out from the outside world has made me realize several facts about myself; it almost gave me the time to rethink my life. Practically, I do feel that somehow, this experiment has allowed me to become more effective in seeing through myself.
Second Set of Hours for Incarceration
The second set of the hours spent for the experiment became relatively boring every now and then. Although I might not have tried to go against the policies or the rules set for me to follow, I did feel the need to release the stress of waiting for the time to end. I wanted so much to do something more, and as the time nearly ends, I observed myself becoming more and more adamant to get out of the room and likely feeling more frustrated as I have ever been during the full stretch of the experiment.
Implications of Experience
Relatively, the experience I got from the experiment’s implicative effect provided me a sense of understanding what is actually being experienced by the inmates who are incarcerated for the first time in par with those who are already spending more time within the bars. The length of time spent within the constraints of the jail house extends the manner by which inmates becomes strongly related to the idea of seeing through themselves. Giving them more time to see through their actions and realizing the wrong things they may have done life, incarcerated inmates might actually feel the desire to become a better individual after they get out of the said jail homes.
Providing them with such chance to see through their actions is an important part of applying justice especially dedicated to the concept of improving one’s being apart from the possibility of gaining more ideas of imposing criminal works that are likely going to involve more victims along the line. Notably, it could be accepted that through this approach to the matter, incarceration actually provides a strong indicative course of improvement especially in identifying personal transformation on the part of the incarcerated inmates. Frustrations and boredom are of course a part of the process. It could not be denied that when it comes to handling issues that are likely to affect the being of the individual who is kept out in isolation apart from the society, the level of conviction on how one becomes more endowed to the desire of getting out of jail becomes strong enough especially if the inmates are not given anything to work with while within the said constraints of the law.
Conclusion
What is assumed as a deterrent nature of justice could be concluded as in effective way of helping inmates realize more about themselves. Then again, this might not be possible enough if the individuals undergoing such mark of development and transformation in their lives are not assisted properly especially in relation to how they are supposedly going to react to the matters surrounding them. What is understood as modern ways of disciplining the society is already an old-time system that has affected many individuals in their way towards personal transformation. Considerably though, this approach would only work if the approach to applying such form of punishment is clear enough especially in identifying with the real goal of the said act of incarceration.
