The HR Competencies, Essay Example

I believe that the two most important competencies for HR professionals that utilize HR metrics are teamwork and customer service. These are two competencies that are easily measurable by metrics because they directly contribute to the productivity and profit of the business. These competencies add to the HR professional’s ability to be a strategic partner because teamwork and customer service contribute directly to the organization and achievement of the organization’s goals. These allow the HR department to work together the rest of the staff in order to maintain feedback and create new policies that may be beneficial for the staff as a whole. These competencies are particularly useful in my business of choice, Walmart, because there are greater than 100 employees. According to “Survey Looks at Reasons for Using Metrics, Functions Most Measured”, large companies are more likely to use HR metrics for feedback. Walmart could continue to use this method to increase the efficacy of its HR department and continue to examine the impact of HR competencies on business. These competencies are valuable because they help indicate the needs of the organization and provide away to counter shortcomings. New competencies that HR professionals will need to emphasize in the future include the ability to predict business trends that will occur as a result of new HR policy and employee training.
