The HTML Method, Essay Example

Before entering this class, I have completed several exercises similar to what was completed in Lab 1-1. However, in the past, I’ve used JavaScript to enable popup messages on websites, so the HTML method used was new to me. This lab helped me better understand the role of a Web designer. Although I have designed websites prior to the lab, they were more for my own entertainment. Now that I’ve approached the concept of web design as a profession, I see that there is more to this process than simply knowing HTML; it is important for web site designers to make their websites aesthetically pleasing to convince consumers that they should purchase the product that is being advertised. The pop up window is particularly useful for this purpose because it engages the viewer and will likely encourage them to explore the rest of the site. I think that becoming a web site designer is an attractive job because it is an excellent way to mix my enjoyment of computer science with my creative side. I appreciate that this art takes much experience to master, and would be interested in seeing how my web site design skills will improve.
