The Importance of Music, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 280

Essay

I would absolutely agree with the notion that music is a significant and important part of our lives as human beings. Music means so much to the world because it is a unique form of art that can transcend barriers of language, race, backgrounds, and other differences.

It is widely said that music is the language of the universe and in many ways this statement is true. Two or more people may not speak the same language, but when they listen to the same song it ignites similar emotional patterns that they can all relate to without even speaking to each other. It is not just the words of the music but the rhythm of the instruments that play a substantial role in the comprehension of any emotions.

I completely agree with Karl Paulnack’s views of the ancient Greeks when he noted their belief that music was one with astronomy. Again, this supports the idea that music serves as the universal language.

Another unique piece of history that supports the importance of music is the quartet that was composed during World War II in Nazi Germany in front of the thousands of prisoners and prison guards. Paulnack noted this important fact in his speech because he knew the significance of how people with such vast differences on the world could be united through their shared appreciation for music.

Mr. Paulnack goes on throughout his writing giving many demonstrations of how important music is in our lives. I must completely agree with him because it is not only opinionated that music is important in our lives. Paulnack provides strong evidence in his writing that music is actually more important to our lives than we think.
