The Initial Cut In the Grand Canyon, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 315

Essay

While the Colorado created the initial cut in the Grand Canyon, it seems that the exposed rock has been further eroded by the rain.  In this way, the water, over time, gradually created a wider canyon.  Furthermore, the violent sudden erosion can have an effect.  This is essentially how the canyon developed throughout the years.  This development is discussed within the film and the various processes that worked to do so are brought into question.

It was interesting to learn that the Colorado River was not the sole contributor to the creation of the Grand Canyon.  Instead, it seems, there were a variety of different geological forces going on. It was also interesting to learn about Lake Bidahochi and how it dried up as the canyon was formed.  In this way, the dynamic geographic features of the area are brought to my attention.

The second video discusses predators and their extremity.  It covers the basic strengths and dangers of these animals.  It gives a countdown of predators, including crocodiles, the archer fish, bears, spiders, snakes, eels, sharks, wolfs, killer whales, and the shrew.  These animals are discussed in regards to how they hunt for food or defend themselves.  Furthermore, these animals are related to human counterparts.

This video was interested, although it was presented in somewhat of an obnoxious format.  It was interesting to learn about the ways in which the animals are able to be considered predators. The portable web that was spun by the spider was interesting. I also thought it was interesting that the shrew was included in the list among other seemingly more dangerous predators. This was interesting, as you would not usually associate the animal with the other predators.
