The Instruction Effectiveness of My Students, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 331

Essay

Since I am researching the progress of my own students, I do believe that my research falls under the second category, the one in which I do not have to seek consent of students and their parents. I am planning to research the instruction effectiveness of my students in groups and during the individual work, which has a set of strong implications for the development of instructional approaches in education. I am planning to conduct my research in several groups, grouping students according to their academic achievement (at first strong achievers together, and weak achievers – together, then – making heterogeneous groups) and observing the tempos of their learning. This way, I am planning to investigate the impact of group work and individual work on the learning process, and to further link my findings to the personal characteristics of students (introvert, cooperative, leader, etc.) by means of conducting small informal interviews with students regarding their impressions about individual and group work.

I believe that gaining consent of parents for using their children in research is so complex because research is not seen by all people from the researcher’s perspective, and some people treat research with caution. At times, people are afraid of negative research findings, which is also objectively possible. Therefore, it is essential to keep research results confidential and the personalities of participants – confidential as well, since it is the determinant of objective research assessment. In case people reading the research know people discussed, or the participants get acquainted with research results, they may disagree and argue regarding the researcher’s conclusions that may ultimately be really subjective.

In the context of my research, I think I would share the results with my students and their parents (to underline the most efficient learning styles, and the personal traits facilitating learning), and with my colleagues – to show the proactive, thoughtful, and individualized approaches to enhancing learning by means of tailoring the learning process to the personal abilities, characteristics, and personalities of students.
