When deciding what career path to choose, it may not be such a bad idea to pursue the job position of a logistics manager. Being a logistics manager carries many benefits in the contemporary work environment. Those in the logistics manager position can enjoy a mean salary around 62 thousand annually. Top earners working as logistics managers can make up to 92 thousand per year. However, there are more benefits to being a logistics manager than just the money.

Logistics managers usually work in supply chain management. Such a position in this type of management involves planning and steering the flows of raw materials and finished goods. A lot of the work a logistics manager does involves warehouse work, control of inventory, the handling of raw materials including transportation, and strategic planning. Because this position requires such a wide spectrum of responsibility, it is necessary that anybody who seeks understands the knowledge, academics, and experience required to be a successful logistics manager.

Most businesses seeking to hire a logistics manager will require that the candidate have at least a bachelor degree in a business or logistics related field. A study in 2011 showed that about 74% of logistics managers held at least a bachelor degree. However, it is not common for a new college graduate to immediately jump into the position of logistics manager is it requires adequate and relevant professional work experience. Once a person reaches the position of logistics manager, they can expect to be financially comfortable. The projected job growth for logistics managers between 2012 and 2022 is expected to expand by 5%. Logistics managers will generally be in demand on a continuous basis. These findings support why the position of logistics manager can be highly beneficial.
