The Labeled Line System, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 411

Essay

The labeled line system of processing is effective for the acknowledgement and decoding of stimuli which have an important biological valuation for the species. This can be found in the case of pheromones. In contrast, the mixture of the across fiber system of processing is able to codify an elevated quantity of stimuli with identical numbers of neurons. Notwithstanding, the across fiber system of codifying may be less precise in its capacity of identifying a specific stimulus. The aspect of language is a labeled line matrix which requires specific coding. The aspect of language infers a biological valuation for the species (Sandoz et al., 2007).

6.2

The FFA (fusiformed face area) is applied for the acknowledgement of places and faces. It is positioned in the underside of the brain in the fusiform gypos . This is denoted as a functional idealizer (Sergent et al., 1992).

6.3.

The saccadic reflex is a rapid motion of the ocular vessel, which is started in the cortical by the FEF ( frontal ocular fields) or by the aspect of superior colliculus. The Saccadic reflex acts as a method of fixating on novel objects and optokinetic nystagumus (Cassin & Solomon, 1990).

6.4

In order to review for the honeybees color vision, the von Frisch experiment may be conducted . The von Frischexperiment entailed conditioning the honeybees to a particular background color as the feed. This could be subsequently interchanged for the aspect of brightness by changing the colors of the background. If the bees are color blind and blind to brightness they would be incognizant of the change of the intensity of color and brightness. In order to get around the aspect of brightness, gray cards should be used in the von Frisch experiments. If the honeybees do not acknowledge color or brightness, the response to the gray cards after being conditioned to a bright color would not be noticeable (Carew 2009).
