The Last Straw, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 279

Essay

The idiom ‘the last straw that breaks the back of the camel’ is symbolic. It signifies the cause of more serious reaction due to several unprecedented negative actions. The trend continues until the scenario becomes unbearable, and the only way out of it is to react (Robbins, 2005). The things that occur in the life of human beings make them decide to do things whose outcome may be detrimental. Bellows says that there are no underlying causes of problems. He means that challenges are an integral part of human life and that they do not arise from specific reasons. People do not face problems because they deserve them (Zionts et al. 2002). Instead, they face challenges because the situation placed them there. Eventually, some problems, such as particular illnesses, are natural, with no specific cause. Other challenges come from continuous behaviors that go overboard (Nevid et al. 2010). When individuals decide to do something one more time, the additional round messes everything up. The effects of the actions may be adverse, but the causes are not underlying (Carter, 2008). Therefore, Bellows observed it and coined the statement that there are no underlying causes of problems. They arise and affect people, expecting them to apply particular approaches to solve them conclusively.
