The Martian Chronicles, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 588

Essay

The Martian Chronicles is a wonderful as well as a strange tale that gives an account of the experience of man in Mars. The story is associated with astonishing visions as well as intense images. The story entails the repeated efforts of humanity in the colonization of the Mars, also called the red planet. At first, this venture involved only a few men in which case, majority suffered heavily from a disease that was identified as Great Loneliness that arose after they perceived a dwindling in their home planet to a size that was equivalent to a fist. This made them develop a feeling as if they had never before been born and the few men who survived from the Great Loneliness disease that killed majority of their colleagues were never welcome in Mars. The perception of the Martians while engaged in shape changing was that of native lunatics.

The author has clearly painted a picture that is associated with a haunting experience of the Mars planet that was under destruction as a result of the human colonists as well as a Martian civilization that was perceived as most horrifying. The book gives a detailed account of the history of frantic efforts of colonization of Mars by the curious Martians as well as their resistance that is exhibited as inadvertent as well as overt.

The opening chapter of The Martian Chronicles is characterized by a wiping jealous husband as a result of the expedition following the experiences of the wife of visitors who were mysterious coming from a different world. The later parts of the story accounts for a different expedition that entails the Martians who are locked up in an insane asylum which is one of the most harrowing experience that the writer has documented in The Martian Chronicles. The Martians are engaged in murdering a crew though with a sense of kindness and whether this is an act of evil or otherwise, the author allows the reader to form an independent judgment.

This therefore means that among the humans coming to the planet Mars for the purpose of converting the dessert in to their new homes are not supposed to be despised. In the same case as in the planet Earth, for every person who may be considered as good, there is a bad person as well, who may also be uncaring and indifferent. Mars has the potentials for attracting all types of creatures but the Martians who are dying to occupy Mars have a perception of an element that is worth nurturing and protecting.

The Martian Chronicles gives an account of a flight that is associated with great fancy with respect to space as well as time that is a transcription of amazing incidences that happen in Mars planet. The author maintains literacy as well as visionary quality while trying to evade the mechanistic aspect that is attributed to the medium. The story projects a possibility of imminent war involving the total destruction of the earth followed by the return to Mars being a lonely land that is wasted by the survivors. The keys to Mars planet are being given to another tenant. Bradbury expresses the notion of the rockets through the use of poetic terms. The Martian Chronicles is a story of a new world under construction.
