The Maxwell Leadership Bible, Essay Example

Essay

The aspects of nursing grew from the understanding of the Christian perspective that humans are created in the image of God, and that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. God created everything and everybody for a purpose, in asking God what is our specific purpose, it is important to realize, “he created human being with a will of their own, men and women who must choose to follow His leadership according to His plan.” (Maxwell, 2013, pg. 3) With this understanding of knowing that we each have a purpose, and we each have own on will to choose, it is fundamental that we act on our purpose and calling. For me, my calling is to be a nurse, and be a light and a leader to all those around me. Knowing my historical foundations of what God did, and why he did it is essential in knowing that God created us to lead and to rule. Even though God has given us dominion over the earth, for those that are not aware of our history, we settle to give way to own path, instead of following in the purpose that God has intended for us.

It is important in my day-to-day activities that I acknowledge my purpose, even when times are trying dealing with patients and colleagues that that are self-serving. I must learn that in knowing what I was created for, as a leader I must learn to adapt to my journey, as I hold on to the vision that God has created for me. Maxwell provides emphasis that “individuals must see the benefits of the vision before they will commit to it.” (Maxwell, 2013, pg. 1) In saying this he means that we as Christians must have faith must exhibit the characteristics of God and of Christianity before others can follow suit. God established that in understanding and knowing God, we must order our steps in the way that God has laid for us. By me continuing to develop new approaches in handling patients, establishing relationships with my colleagues, and demonstrating the Christian characteristics, I allow others to get to know how Christianity is important in the nursing field, and to themselves.
