In the 21st century, MES has shown massive changes in terms of flexibility of supply chain and enterprise management aspects. This is in relation to features like heightened competition levels; short life cycles of products, rising costs, demands and external environmental pressures. MES are flexible and gives room to managers of diverse organizations to adapt them to solutions that meet the needs of the organization. The dynamic growth of market demands has forced organizations to be consistent in integrating data across all company levels. MES offers organizations components integrated from the field and levels of control to that of operations and levels of management, which ensures manufacturing is optimal, and response in the market is high. Many organizations are embracing new technology that meets all the needs of their customers and organizations without fail and thus, MES has developed and researchers are investigating new solutions to emerging problems in organizations.

Highest productivity is reached at all times using solutions provided by MES, which include the use of data collaboration in a seamless manner along the chain of supply in the company. The use of automated machines has increased the speed of production and thus, the number of production and supply in organizations has increased. Consequently, this helps corporate management achieve market responsiveness by relying on improved processes of decision-making and highest speeds of production. Furthermore, this enhances transparency of data and marketing of products is increased. In other words, MES is compatible, scalable and flexible hence, ensures that product quality and speed are maintained.

Globally, MES has affected both commerce and production patterns to benefit all parties involved in the development of the organization. Commerce has evolved to greater heights and has become advantageous to suppliers, manufacturers and distributors of given companies. Production has also increased to meet the demand of the market in global perspectives, which ensures that all the needs of the customers are met. For countries, their revenues have increased, and thus, living standards of people have been improved.
