Essay

The Business intelligence tools including data warehousing and data mining has become one of the most strategic management drivers, providing organizations to achieve enduring competitive advantages(King, 2009). Likewise, the current trends of cloud computing facilitate organizations to process business functions on software as a service (SaaS). However, integrating database including a Microsoft Access to these cloud based applications is not an easy task.Likewise, integrating MS access with a CRM application will minister in synchronizing information, data administration and management without constructing any code (MS access integration, n.d). Moreover, SQL database can also be integrated with MS access. For instance, the database structure of an organization includes SQL sandbox databases. These databases provide opportunities for the developers along with some dedicated users for performing temporary development. Likewise, the temporary development will not ensure performance and resilience. However, these developers require MS access as a front (Graphical User Interface) GUI tool for these sandbox databases. In order to integrate MS access with SQL database, some of the factors that need to be considered are (Microsoft access and SQL server integration, n.d):

  • Configure an ODBC Data Source Name (DNS) by utilizing the standard server client of SQL
  • Configure an ODBC Data Source Name (DNS) by utilizing the native client of SQL (SNAC)
  • Integrating MS access tables with SQL server
  • Developing Pass-Through theory of SQL

The construction of an ODBC data source will connect MS Access to SQL server that will facilitate for developing a structure that will provide features for query and SQL server data reporting via Microsoft office suite tools. In order to configure a DSN, the first step is to locate the data sources in the ODBC control panel tab. As per the requirements, user can select any one of the environment from user system creation or DSN file(Microsoft access and SQL server integration, n.d). However, the decision for selecting any environment must be adequate and as per organization’s requirements (Microsoft access and SQL server integration, n.d).
