The Politics of Conflict, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 339

Essay

The evaluation of the historical aspects of conflicts shows that conflicts and riotsare caused by factors that underlie what a majority consider conflict causes. For instance, the Harlem riot in 1946, caused by a simple fight incident, was a factor of social injustice that for years had affected America’s society[1]. Violent uprisings elsewhere have been greatly influenced by oppressions and social injustices. The conflict extremism is determined by the extent to which it results. The difference in individuals’ views on issues is still a causative factor for conflicts. Hence, the political conflict field has received study interest. According to Gaventa’sPower and Powerlessness work, conflicts and revolts are always aimed at countering social injustices. Politics has had a great influential impact on changing the views of individuals across a broad range of scale[2]. The alteration of political promises in some cases has acted as a basis for initiation of conflicts and riots. Of worth considering is the fact that social injustice has not only been a race issue. It has also been a gender issue. Feminism is a subject that has gained popularity for many years. The female gender has struggled to cope with most systems that are established to support the male gender entirely[3]. Hence, there is need to prioritize on helping the female gender have access to opportunities just like the male gender. While women are unlikely to engage in violent revolts, women may use politics to change the course of the social injustices they have faced for years.
