Guns have prevailed as an ever-present subject within politics of the United States ever since the nation was founded in 1776. The focus that is often placed when talking about guns is whether they should be legal or not and who should be able to own guns. Seeking to address this issue, we should place significant importance in how this nation has come to be, and address various factors that have ultimately led to this nation’s success. Therefore, in discussing whether civilians should be granted access to guns, maybe not as powerful as the military, we shall analyze the fact that this nation has been successful because of the enforcement of this right, analyze the corruption in other countries as a result of the prohibition, and describe how terrorism is often being prevented as a result of this access to guns that people have.
The United States has had an exponential growth of success over the last three centuries that continues to expand because of the laws that make up the establishment of this nation. This has been a result of the fact that citizens can look out for themselves and have the power to defend themselves. Moreover, people that seek to assassinate or commit crimes will always find a way to obtain guns and therefore it is better for everyone to have access to guns in order to make criminals think twice when committing crimes. The benefits of gun ownership in the United States are clearly exhibited and just as easily we observe the consequences of restricting gun ownership in other countries.
The rising success of the United States can partly be accredited to the fact that gun ownership is legal. Just as evident is the negative result of gun ownership in other countries such as Mexico that borders the United States. Drug cartels in Mexico are the only ones with access to guns and can therefore due as they please and terrorize the people. Fearing that their families will be killed; people are often forced to hide high-powered guns within their stores and end up being the ones to face time in jail when the police search their establishment. The military, due to the high levels of corruption in this country, also have this restricted access to guns and can therefore take advantage of people and steal from them without any consequences. Drug cartels are also able to bribe the military with the tremendous amount of money they make from their illegal transactions and can therefore control any areas they want and ask for weekly quotas from the people. The power that those that own guns in countries where guns are restricted is truly evident and in this way we can derive the reason as to why terrorism has ceased in many parts of the United States.
Terrorism in much of the United States has successfully been eradicated as a result of people being able to defend themselves. Guns make terrorists not the only ones with a gun readily available for use. People are able to fight back whenever a terrorist seeks to cause harm. This has been observed many times in public places where civilians have often stopped terrorists because they too had a gun readily available for their own defense. Terrorism is a phenomenal benefit from all of the contributions from the many that are derived as a result of the right to bear arms in the United States.
Analyzing the previously stated sources of evidence we find that the right to bear arms has resulted in positive outcomes almost entirely; when it has not, the negative consequences have mostly been cause by people with mental disorders. When comparing the United States to other countries with the prohibition of gun ownership we find evident differences that appeal to the right to bear arms. Terrorism has been controlled as a result of gun ownership and eradicated in some areas since terrorists think twice before committing a crime knowing that their victim might also have a gun. A future society without guns might possibly turn into anarchy and result in unresolvable chaos.
