In his State of the Union address President Obama discussed a number of important issues facing the nation. One of the first issues the president focused on was employment, and how the government could take steps to create new jobs. One thing the president suggested is to change tax codes to give incentives to companies to bring jobs back from overseas. The president also suggested that the government create jobs for building and repairing roads, bridges, and other parts of America’s infrastructure. The president also spoke about the need to make education available for Americans to develop the skills needed to compete in the global economy, and he mentioned a federal program that offers on-the-job training and other assistance to unemployed Americans, and also asked Congress to restore unemployment insurance that just expired.
