The Professionalization of Ujwai Bharati, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 303

Essay

What is Srinivas’ dilemma? Why did it arise? What should he do?

Srinivas must meet with company executives to determine the fate of current CEO, Parasuram. The company leader made several decisions that did not sit well with the board of executives. Perhaps the most notable was Parasuram’s choice to send an email to the team after taking a week off to rest and recuperate. Srinivas should consider the fact that he advised Parasuram to take time off when speaking with the board about his fate. He should also remind executives of Parasuram’s many accomplishments during his stint as CEO.

What is your assessment of the professionalization styles of Parasuram and Jairaj?

Whereas Jairaj took the approach of professionalization by way of investing in larger firms, Parasuram was a firm believer that growth began inward and spread abroad. Parasuram set his sights on correcting problems within the company before reaching out and expanding. Jairaj depended on the foundation of the company, which was established by the Bharati family, to progress. He did little to strengthen the base, which led to his inability to understand the company’s needs and, hence, suggest bad ideas. Perhaps the poorest of these suggestions was for the company to partner with a biotech company. Such idea led to Jairaj’s resignation after Srinivas publicly shamed him for presenting such concept.

Is the role playing the role expected of it? Is Srinivas playing the role expected of him?

Srinivas is not playing the role expected of him through much of the account because the CEOs he hires take over his duties as well as their own. Parasuram allows Srinivas to do a few duties within his job description but Srinivas is clearly not a necessary contributor to the company. Parasuram plays the role expected of him despite poor decisions that led to his fate.
