The Quotation From a Famous Person, Essay Example

The quotation from a famous person that I have chosen is “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”by Walt Disney (1901 – 1966) (Robins, G.), not that I ever thought my journey from RN to BSN to be impossible if I did not lose sight of my goals, if I worked hard, if I budgeted stringently, and if I did not forget to laugh periodically, especially at myself.

Sometimes the road from RN to BSN was a difficult one to travel.  For a person who needs to work, such a journey is not an easy one.  If the going seemed to be getting really tough, I reminded myself that I was not the first—and would not be the last—working person to further her education because she truly loved education, she wanted a more economically sound future, and she wanted to further her education in her chosen profession so that she could be of more help to others. It is, to be sure, quite challenging, but I thrive on challenges; and in agreement with Disney’s quotation, I found that “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible” (ibid.).  There was always time for some laughter.

I made a wise choice when I did my BSN online since there was flexibility involved.  Unlike when one takes classes, I did not have to be in a certain place at a certain time.  I was a bit fearful when I began, mainly because I had been out of school for a number of years.  However, I did okay and sharpened my computer skills in the process.   Also, during the 17 years that I was out of school I was nursing, during which time I gained knowledge and experience that has served me well on my RN – BSN journey. It gave me confidence and increased my self-esteem.  When I was 22 years of age and nursing for only six months, I was given the position of charge nurse, an almost impossible—but sometimes fun—task. T he older nurses did not want the extra work and stress of the job, but did not want to take direction from a 22 year old either.
