Research Paper

Successful implementation of a system of electronic health record, HER, is a factor of time and finances in all health care settings irrespective of type and size. The selection of a particular product must be given the relevant attention being a time intensive undertaking. Consequently, health care firms are required to allocate enough resources and time for appraising the functional requirements, goals, information needs as well as regulatory requirements prior to review of accessible products as well as services in electronic health records (Dougherty, 2007). This is an important consideration if the process of vendor selection in the firm has to be successful.

In this regard, request for information, RFI is a crucial tool in evaluation of appropriateness of services and products for the existing vendor products offerings in an organization. The rapid changes that affect technology in the organizations demand that, the managers must identify the most effective as well as cost effective solutions to the best interests of the needs of the firm. The process of sending a request for information to the vendor is an process that is associated with a high degree of effectiveness for the relevance of a selection process in a formal way. The request for information is a constructive tool that facilitates effective gathering of data from the vendors concerning the services as well as the products that they are in a position to offer to the organization (Dougherty, 2007). The process involves a fact finding mission that forms the preliminary step in identification of the most suitable vendor who will fulfill the future purchase needs in the organization. The vendor on the other hand must avail marketing materials with detailed information concerning the products and services that they are in a position to offer.
