The Rise of the Tea Party in American Politics, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 248

Essay

These trends in society assist in promoting the tea party in American politics. The goal of tea parties is to ensure that ordinary citizens not oppressed by the policies made by government officials especially of financial matters by the federal state. The desire to reduce the burden on the society on matters of taxation is an eminent need.

The trends of single parenting exert financial constraints to the parents and increases in tax liabilities will force the individuals to resort to oppose any further taxation policies (Deparle & Tavernise, 2012). The standpoint of the Tea party is the reduction of the tax burden on citizens. The individuals dissatisfied with the policies of the government then join the tea part to voice their dissatisfaction.

On the other hand, the policies on taxation taken by the government are seen as the results of the tea party. When the federal government makes policies that tend to reduce taxes, the tea party takes credit even though they may have not advocated for the implementation. The perception of other individuals not members of the tea parties change and they see the tea party as winning the war. The tea party tends to grow with the increase in these trends as they receive accreditation for the policies on the implementation of reduced taxes. Appelbaum & Gebeloff (2012), provide that, although the federal government manifests the interests of the citizens, the perception is that, the implementation of policies is done through the pressure from the tea party.
