The Secret of Easter Island, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 269

Essay

I would definitely want to read more about the island’s history. I am interested in the culture of the people who used to live there. I would also like to find out what happened to them. I believe that the author would tell me more about the stone figures. Did they have a mystical or religious meaning? Did people believe that they had special powers? Were they representations of Gods? I would also be interested in the explanation of the author how it was possible to build these statues before modern age tools were available. I am interested in the topic because it reveals cultural, anthropological and natural aspects of the place at the same time. I would also like to read about the human experience without modern civilizations’ inventions. Living close to the nature, seeing new species will be an interesting experience Heyerdahl can describe. The book sounds very promising.

Nature is an environment that makes life on Earth for humans possible. Without plants, we would not have enough oxygen. Without water we would die of thirst. Without animals, we would not have food. However, natural environments are at danger. Humans endanger the habitat of other species. They pollute the air and poison waters. We need to protect what we need for survival. I have once watched a documentary on Discovery. The narrator said that Earth would survive a man-made natural disaster. Humans would not. Earth and the natural environment can rebuild itself, as it has done millions of years ago. But if humans become extinct, there is no future for us. Protecting nature is important for human survival.
