The Secret World of the Plants, Essay Example

The Secret World of the Plants discusses various interesting aspects regarding the lives of plants, their biology, and their growth cycles.  It discusses not only the ability of plants to age beyond that of animals but also the abilities that they have in regards to protection mechanisms, and even offensive ones.  These aspects of plants are discussed through the lens of an exploratory oration, and while driving the idea that plants are more than what they seem, this documentary promotes the idea that these living creatures have their own world in regards to the way that they live.  This documentary was interesting in its discussion of the biological nature of plants.  This nature, as discussed within the context of the video, is much more complex and fascinating than what the plants seem to indicate at first glance.

In the Mind of Plants discusses various philosophical questions regarding the way that plants perceive the world that they are a part of.  The film explores whether or not these entities are able to think, even in different ways that animals or humans think, as well as the way in which they are able to recall events or perceive the environment around them.  In this way, the documentary is essentially an exploration of the possibilities that inherent within the being of the plant.  Whether these beings have gone beyond animals on their evolutionary paths is also a question that is explored in the documentary.  This provides an interesting conversation regarding the lives of plants and how they perceive the world.  These perceptions, as indicated within the video, are much more complex and diverse than what the simple nature of the plants seem to indicate on their surface.
