In recent years for numerous organizations the number of joint ventures, alliances, and partnerships has risen in order to try and maintain in this complex global marketplace a competitive advantage. Organizations will share stakeholders, resources, and expertise, they can then successfully are able to achieve greater outcomes, spur innovation, and access new markets. In industries such as those in the medical field, organizations are investing more resources into joint ventures as they recognize the benefits of collaboration. In “Deep River and District Hospital Joins Diagnostic Imaging Network”, Deep River and District Hospital they have decided to form a joint venture in order to improve access to medical specialties in the communities. According to Porter and Lee (2013), “we must replace today’s fragmented system, in which every local provider offers a full range of services, with a system in which services for particular medical conditions are concentrated in health-delivery organizations, and in the right locations to deliver high value care” (pg. 2).

In order to Deep River and District Hospital to fulfill the primary objective of their joint ventures, they must embark on measures in which they will be able to market and strategize to make the joint venture successful. Some successful measures that the two organizations can take advantage of includes developing the provider network, drawing up an organizational chart, creating a legal or governance in which is capable of steering the organization towards their goals, formulating a joint mission statement and strategic plan, and identifying the leaders. (Schreter, 1998) For the organizations which implement and specialize in technological advances, as well as providing specialize services to patients, they should be able to highlight that in their marketing plans to their stakeholders to inform the public of the importance, and the need for forming this joint venture of the two organizations.
