The System of Operation Among Healthcare Facilities, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 560

Essay

The need to improve healthcare facility performance is a specific need that not only the American healthcare facilities need to focus on at present. As for a fact, this issue of operational development has been served as common issue denominator among healthcare facilities around the globe. Hence, if given the chance to take hold of the responsibility of an administrator, I would take the chance to administer the second recommendation regarding the improvement and promotion of open communication between patients and practitioners.

This recommendation has been chosen effective especially in redefining the flow of operation in healthcare facilities such as hospitals. Relatively, the communication that exists between the healthcare givers or practitioner and the patients serve as bridge that would create better understanding between the parties involved. True, several issues occur when patients are being kept away from learning what particular medical procedures they are being subjected to. Sometimes, practitioners take this option to avoid complications. Nevertheless, it should be realized that the patients have the right to have control over their own body especially if their mental capacity is not in question at any point. True, practitioners may have decisions that they think should push through, however, if their patients thin otherwise, then the patients’ decisions should be respected. These instances could include the inclusion of DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) applications and recognition. While practitioners are expected to provide special attention to the way they respond to their obligation as healthcare providers, they are also expected to give specific attention to how they handle the rights of their patients and respect their vision about medical procedures that are to be applied on them.

Open communication shall prompt every healthcare provider to make sure that they are able to provide ample information to the patient every time they are to administer certain medical procedures on their patients. This includes providing them with proper information [both the positive and the negative aspects of the process]. Transparency on these matters shall account for the legal response of the hospital [or any other healthcare facilities at that] to the obligations that they have sworn to complete for the sake of their patients. Relatively, recognizing this responsibility shall also free the administration from responding to client complaints especially if they were constantly accounted for every step of the way by which they are being assisted for their health’s improvement.

Obviously, this recommendation is expected to work effectively in assuming better flow of operation. Along with the practice of open communication between patients and practitioners, it is expected that proper documentation of information should also be implemented. This means that whatever the decision of the patient was shall be recorded down hence protecting both the rights of the patient and the practitioner to be free of any guilt if anything happens after the procedure. Implicating this change however involves overall cooperation on the part of the staff members of the hospital or the healthcare facilities involved. While patient privacy is honoured in every healthcare establishment, it is assumed through this recommendation that openness in communication especially when required as part of the process of recovery of the patient in concern should be recognized as an essential part of the approach to healthcare assistance protection and provision.
