The Target Audience, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 256

Essay

The target audience for this paper will be Cinese people who have severed all ties to modern society and have developed their own country (in the mountains of Peru) in order to live a more literary life. These people have brought their families (children, lovers, partners, siblings, parents, grandparents, etc.) and have decided to make their own language based on their favorite books.

The point of this dictionary is to enable the people to be able to speak with one another through their favorite literary texts that have their own lexicons in back: therefore, my dictionary will be half a composite dictionary of Burgess’s work, Adams, and Carroll, and half words I make up from combining words together, or, Chinglish.

I want the words for Chinglish I choose to include in my dictionary to be words appropriate for this specific group of people, and their environment. Thus, words for llama, mountains, and making up new gods or deities to worship will be included in the dictionary, with side bars on how to appropriately honor them (as per Chinese culture and tradition). Some of the definitions will also have in-text examples as to how best to use the words in a sentence; for instance, “slip carefully” will be included as the location is high in the mountains of Peru where dew and rains make walking granite steps dangerous. I would like to include a swear section as these people are very passionate about what they do and are about (nothing dirty, just fun words like “fiddlesticks” or some equivalent).
