The True Essence of Education, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 501

Essay

Education makes a person learned and enables him to be a successful citizen in the society. Extracurricular activities play a pivotal role in shaping the lives and personalities of young individuals and make them self disciplined.

Helping people in need, involving directly with people in the society and affecting their lives are a wonderful experience in enriching one’s learning and realizing self-worth.  Being a helpful, kind and a social person, I had a great chance to realize my full potential by volunteering for a Jewish Relief Agency. I participated in monthly food packing and distributions for the needy people. It was an eye opener to realize that people who are less fortunate have to struggle extremely hard to meet their daily needs. The experience made me more emphatic and compassionate to understand the innumerable problems people face every day.  Different issues, problems and upcoming hurdles in the society are stark real and vivid when we face life in reality.

In addition to this, I had a splendid opportunity to grab my share as a great worker for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where thousands of Americans are provided care and help for their daily battles with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.  I helped in raising funds and was an active participant in the Light the Night Walk events.  It’s hard to see people and young children suffering. General awareness against such diseases is a must and this activity was a great step in making people like me aware of the harsh consequences of these malicious diseases.  Being a part of this group has enriched my mind with the need and benefit of physical health and has stimulated my courage.

My skill as a great team leader and team player has led me to work as a manager for the boys’ basket ball team in Philadelphia Academy Charter High School. Organizing games, contacting referees and game officials and reporting scores has heightened my pro activeness and has enhanced my leadership qualities. This has, in turn, enriched my basic skill as an exuberant person and has helped me realize the needs of others. Having heard time and again at home and in school that, ‘Hard work is the key to success.’ My main aim has always been to upgrade my skills and gain efficient experience which would be fruitful in life. Being an active participant in social activities, I have gained wonderful experience to showcase my talent in the relevant field. No wonder, extracurricular activities has enhanced my basic education and knowledge base; it has always provided me the sense of accomplishment and has always lifted my spirits.

Above all, my personal love for playing piano is my constant companion in times of stress. I am a part of a girl’s soccer team and have always proved extra active on the grounds. Both are my favorites and both have influenced my personality in a positive manner. Be it my physical strength and mental growth, I have maintained a healthy disposition and am always optimistic for gaining positive results.
