Essay

Introduction

Since I am a manager, most of the conflicts I normally face are the types of a workplace conflict. The recent conflict I faced was an interdependence conflict. I based all my interests on a sales person who is always in inputting the figures of the monthly sales. This daily routine made my accountant with her recent reports. The sales person put me into a big mess that I did not want to forgive him at all. After a deep thought and realizing that in a place of work there must be conflict, I called the sales person so that we can chat on what has been wrong before things goes into a big loss. I asked him if there is something I did wrong to him that makes him not to deliver the service at the required time. The answer I got from him was that nothing wrong has happened between us. I proceeded by questioning him as to why he delayed the figures of the monthly sales. The sales person said that he was stressed for the past two months because he had many problems that he could not solve without the money.

Surely I admitted that because for the past two months the salaries have been delayed due to the late reports which were usually forwarded by they accountant. The sales person did not understand earlier that his delay could cause the problem of not getting the salaries on time. Since I did not want to show him that he was the core of the problem, I admitted and the mistake was both on our side. But I think that he later realized that he was the main problem. After the talk we I apologized to him and he appreciated me much. He promised not to delay again. This change came true to him when he got his salary on time after resolving the conflict. There after, I saw things changing and the accountant was able to forward the reports without any delay. Before the last month towards the holiday, I ensured that I increased their salaries to 10% each for their hard work. I was later a happy manager to find that things have turned to normal.
