The Vision for Learning, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 316

Research Paper

The vision for learning is extremely important in the formation of school initiatives and policies. The reason for this is that the learning vision constructs the core for development, implementation and stewardship of schooling strategies. It is impossible to achieve any educational objectives until consensus on the theoretical framework constituting its theoretical basis is achieved. All strategies have to be coherent; hence the commitment of teachers and administrators, the agreement in actions and efforts, as well as the correct understanding of ultimate goals are essential for the success.

Our previous planning activities played a central role in the teaching strategy formation; raising student achievements and test scores, improvements in the graduation rate have always been the prime focus of attention. However, nowadays the paradigm of educational vision is changing; it is vital to realize that education should seize being outcome-based and should pose more attention to the process of learning. Both planning and developmental stages of initiatives and programs need more attention to the development of key competencies in students, their critical and analytical skills, self-management and self-improvement techniques.

Proper understanding of the fact that not students have to be tailored according to the requirements of modern testing schemes, but tests have to be adapted to the changing context of education, will substantially increase the chances of students to pass tests and qualify for further education. The academic schedule should not be designed in pursuit of state standards; it should seek the best practices for students to acquire knowledge and skills for life. This is the main dilemma in shaping the school’s educational vision, and it should be faced in a constructive, wise and thoughtful way. The educational needs of students should be adequately faced, while compliance with legal regulations should be reached as well. The school community should be aware of the complexity of such a task, thus ensuring cooperation and engagement in policy formation and implementation.
