The Watergate Scandal, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 414

Essay

The Nixon administration was bombarded with several issues and controversies that were then not completely proven. However, through investigations and situational analysis, it has been found that the June 17,1972 break in within the Democratic National Committee headquarters occurred which was relatively noted as the Watergate scandal. This break-in was specifically enforced because of the many scandals that Nixon and his cabinet had to be involved with during the time. Relatively, these controversies included the utilization of government agencies like FBI [Federal Bureau of Investigation] and CIA [Central Intelligence Agency] as well as the IRS [Internal Revenue Service] to harass activist groups and other political figures who did not coincide with the decisions and plans of the Nixon administration.

This scandal marked the American history noting Nixon as the only US President to ever resign.. The investigation over the Watergate scandal specifically indicated that the president has engaged in several abuses of power. As a result, as the president resigns his post [perhaps to avoid further putting his name into shame], 43 others from his administration had been incarcerated after being tried and trials and proven guilty for what they have committed against the law on human rights and political infidelity. Some of these individuals came from the FBI, CIA, IRS and other high ranking officials that Watergate has placed as appointees to his cabinet.

Tapping on conversations and recording them on tape was one of the most crucial points of blackmail that the administration took into account. Relatively, these were the same conversations that were used in the investigation that proved the guilt of President Richard Nixon and his involvement on some of the most scrupulous political operations during his time. The attempt to cover-up the situation through staging his own reaction to the matter has further placed President Nixon in a more implicating status hence proving his guilt on the matter. The money trail and other points of ‘political bullying’ were then proven and responded to by the administrators.
