Pages: 1

Words: 299

Essay

Facebook is a successful online company with a growing popularity. The site boasts over 500 million active users (Facebook Statistics). Facebook may even be an addiction for many people. On Thursday, September 23, 2010, Facebook crashed for two and a half hours while developers were working to fix the issue (Gaudin). Several Facebook users were incredibly upset and some even showed signs of being totally addicted to Facebook (Gaudin).

Facebook’s success is most likely due to its user-friendly platform and a staff that understands the dynamics of marketing. Facebook is no stranger to the world, boasting a platform that is available in 70 world languages (Facebook Statistics). Only 30% of Facebook’s users reside in the United States and over 300,000 work with the Facebook development team to help translate the site through the translations application (Facebook Statistics). Several TV commercials for various big-name companies like Macy’s now carry the Facebook logo. It has developed into more than just a powerful social network. It is also a business tool that many companies and entrepreneurs use to their advantage. Even the political candidates this year have Facebook and Twitter logos in their ads.

Facebook’s continued popularity and success are incredible. The company is growing at an alarming rate and business appears to be going well for them. Facebook’s marketing techniques are simple. They are integrated with several other entrepreneurs and businesses, expanding their reach significantly. They also have millions of regular users that use Facebook to connect with friends and family. Facebook makes money through advertisements, paid for by businesses and entrepreneurs that wish to gain exposure.
