Thematic Concern of Transition, Essay Example

In the field of architecture, transformations have been eminent and they are not likely to end soon. Traditional architects such as Rosalinda Krauss introduced some concepts that have since been improved by the modern architects. In their book, ‘An introduction to Architectural Theory’, Mallgrave and Goodman observe that, the 1980s philosophical infatuations saw many young and modern architects bring transformation in architecture (Mallgrave and Goodman 150). Undoubtedly, transition is factual in the field of architecture ranging from designing of corners to other distinct elements.

Tschumi observes that, in the 1970s, numerous styles of architecture were introduced, but they were later re-designed to fit the change of events in the 80s (Tschumi 143). Arguably, the today’s architecture has been improved by the introduction of super technology, and the effects remains unmeasured. The change of events was hard for many architects to accept, but postmodernism had to be accepted. Architecture is an action itself, and it continues to receive influence from the media and other quarters that dictate fashions.

Derrida is an essential figure whenever architecture comes into the limelight, considering his assertion that, ‘in architecture, object, sign and meaning converge.’ The form of revelation and transition brought in by Derrida in architecture is decidedly complex. He argues that the role of a corner in architecture should be viewed from a signified dialectic and not just in its physical presence. In the modern architecture, it is difficult for ordinary people to decipher and understand signified meaning of Derrida, as many people understand a corner as just an intersection of two planes (Eisenman 118).

Conclusively, transformations in architecture continue to be witnessed, with the introduction of super technology. The designs introduced by traditional architects have been improved to fit in the modern times.
