Words: 504

Research Paper

Tolapp is a company that has established business in the US and Canada. It now has the dream of going global. The company has strategies to capture the global market. However, the superficial overview of its capability needs a pillar of support. Thus, the most important thing to do is carrying out a SWOT analysis to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats with regard to its expansion dream.

Strengths

  • Great market share- Tollap has a good percentage of market shares in home improvement products and power tools (Kooros & Aslani, 2005, p.52).
  • Strong mission and vision statement- Tollap has a leading mission statement that defines their values, purpose and goals
  • Allowance for growth- Tollap is a flourishing company that has the potentialities of further expansion and growth
  • Competent management team- Tollap has a group of managers who are so promising in their work performance
  • Advanced technology- Tollap employs the use of empowered technological and management skills

Weaknesses

  • Size: its large market and big market share means that a slight natural disaster would adversely affect the company.
  • Global cultures- barriers in corporate cultures that must be overcome e.g. seeing global culture as an one and the same
  • Local products- Tollap only manufactures and relies on local Home appliance, Garden appliance, and Power tools, and products are only distributed within the United States and Canada
  • External environment- Tollap has failed to absorb the changes of the business external environment as the use of the 360 feedback systems
  • Financial metrics- the profitability ratios, sales volume, and the financial position of the business is unstable

Opportunities

  • Innovative products- Tollap can use their profits to develop and produce innovative products to satisfy customer needs
  • Risking- the company can take smart investment risks for expansion
  • Outstanding logo and brand- the Tollaps outstanding logo and brand name gives them a competitive advantage over competitors
  • Earlier performance reports and trends- previous Industrial analysis reports give a positive tread that forecasts the prosperous future
  • Possibility of expansion into the global market – Tolapp uses major retailers such as Sears, Best Buy, and Wal thus has greater opportunities of expansion globally (Selig, 2002, p.37).

Threats

  • The threat of developing a conflict with their major distributive retailers as Wal-Mart
  • The threat of legal and ethical issues accompanied with expansion into global market
  • The threat of upcoming companies producing substitute products
  • Threat of the evolving world, the changing customer preferences, and rising raw material costs might be challenging threats increasing
  • Intense marketing campaigns increasing competitive enforces pressure on Tollap corporation (Yeung, 2009, p.215).

Despite the weakness and treats that Tollap worries about, it has greater opportunities and the strength to enter into the global market.
