Training Staff on the New System Implementation, Research Paper Example

Pages: 1

Words: 345

Research Paper

Training staff on the new system is an important component of system implementation. This is attributed to the huge investments made in terms of finances and time. Therefore, effective training of staff on the use of the new system and the changes made in the procedures and processes of work is an important consideration (Hidle, 2007). Training in this regard offers the optimum level of understanding of the new system that facilitate effective work performance and acquiring proficiency and confidence in the use of the new system. The core pieces of training initiative for a new system will include the following consideration:

  • Choice of the effective training personnel
  • Setting up of effective training facilities
  • Development of training materials
  • Coordinating the training schedules that will facilitate maximum gain
  • Conducting sessions of user training on the basis of job functions
  • Providing an on-going as well as remedial training

These are critical considerations that will facilitate gaining of the maximum possible value as well as results of system implementation. It also positions the practice for success and meeting the requirements of future training. There is also a need to offer supplementary face-to-face tutorial classes in the case that the system implementation is associated with major changes in the application by the vendor involving a new software release (Poon, et al., 2010). This situation is also warranted when the organization is introducing new functions for the system users. Majority of the vendor contracts entail training responsibilities prior to purchasing the intended system. The people responsible for such trainings may be skilled in the new application but the internal processes in the practice as well as the specific plans that are intended may be strange. Their training initiatives must therefore be supplemented by the staff from the organization.
