Translation Science, Essay Example

Words: 367

Essay

Translation science is crucial to the advanced practice nursing enables nursing research by translating research into practice, as well as policy. Knowledge translators in nursing help to identify the primary translation products , which are easily assimilated by diverse audiences. This is important because the translated knowledge will potentially help to inform advanced practice nursing , which allow the nurses to apply the needed practice. However, it has been identified that there are barriers towards translational science, which include institutional, economic, scientific, as well as policy. In spite of major advances in essential biology, there is a prevalent concern regarding the slow pace at which the discoveries are translated into safe ,as well as effective clinical interventions. These barriers limit scientists from undertaking translation science, which might slow the speed at which discoveries are being translated into clinical applications (Flodgren et al,2010).

Thus, nurses trained to undertake translation science might experience insufficient financing, resources, or infrastructure for developing translational research programs; inadequate experience with fundamental techniques ,as well as methods; complex regulatory needs ; or suboptimal acknowledgment or reward for pursuing applied research , which can stretch beyond the limits of the department and discipline. For instance, nurses find it hard to get funding for translational work , as well as navigate the mess of regulatory and administrative matters involved. These challenges may limit the professional interest of advanced nurses in translating research discoveries and inhibit the enterprise at a time when it must be expanded to capitalize on the explosion of fundamental science knowledge. Furthermore, there is evidence that nurses in advanced nurse practice lack the needed training to undertake translation research (Baker et al, 2010). There are some inadequacies in human in terms of disease processes, and translational research. Those nurses who succeed may find it hard to publish their effort in journals and other materials that tend to support hypothesis-driven research over goal-directed science.
