Handling Ethical Decisions on Transplant Operations and Receivers of the Organ

The need to pick the right individual for a transplant is specifically a serious decision. Considerably, the ethical measures that need to be given attention to in line with this decision includes giving attention to the resulting factors that could provide a more convincing ground noting who should best be given the right chance to an extended life.

Depending on the given list, the individuals ranked to likely receive transplant are the transplant surgeon who is already 62 years old, a 36-year old who has six children, the 55 mother and of course it has been a personal choice to pick myself for the transplant due to the desire of living further. Relatively though, considering that there is only a few heart transplants left available, extending the life of the most important or at least the most useful person in the group should be given particular attention to.

First to note is the 62 year old transplant surgeon. Given his profession, if his life has been extended further, then perhaps he would be able to save a lot more lives within the three years that has been left in his service capacity. Relatively though, the chances of having a fully recovered patient considering his age is rather a 50-50 choice. On the other end, the mother of six who is only 36 years of age could do so much more if she was given the transplant. The mother and the personal choice of one’s own chance of extending a life is rather personal and may be quite subjective on the matter. Hence to note the finalization of the decision, the most possible chance of an improved condition after the transplant is that of the mother of six children hence she is chosen to be on the top consideration as receiver of the transplant.
