Pages: 1

Words: 250

Essay

The article at hand elaborates on the manner in which there are a variety of commonly held beliefs that lead individuals to think that there are certain things that heal a common cold. As a matter of fact, the article states that over the counter cough medications have commonly been associated with having a negative effect on children who are under two years old. Because of this, the article advises against using certain types of medications because of how uncertain it is that a certain medication will actually be able to improve the condition of a human being. Because of the way in which certain medications can actually prove to be more harmful than beneficial for a number of individual, the article almost suggests that the best way to treat a common cold would simply be to wait it out and hope that an individual’s health gets better over time.

Although the article does provide a lot of evidence that can be used to back up the kind of effect(s) that a certain medication plays in the overall well-being of an individual, the evidence is certainly questionable. Therefore, the article goes on to prove that there is, in fact, no way by which a common cold can be treated effectively and/or prevented. Moreover, there are certain medications that doctors are not even sure what of what kind of impact the medication would play in the health of an individual. Because of this, individuals should be careful when choosing an over-the-counter medication.
