The Triple Aim model as described by Berwick and his colleagues simply define the proposed framework that would improvise and optimize the performance of the healthcare system in the United States. According to Berwick, the Triple Aim approach is supposed to provide the society with a direction to follow towards adjusting the health care system. The primary goal identified for the Triple Aim Healthcare model is aimed at improving the population’s health.

Berwick and colleagues describe three vital things are that would be mandated by any organization within a community to achieve the Triple Aim (Berwick, Nolan, & Whittington, 2008). The three steps required to attain the Triple Aim design mainly recommend the method of improving or optimizing the health care of the population. The method entails the identification of the target population, for example, by providing the payment based on quality. The population study and data collection is done through research, development and implementation of integrated healthcare systems.

Secondly, improving the patients’ experience of healthcare can be a viable asset towards achieving the Triple Aim initiative. It gives the opportunity the health care systems to offer penalties or incentives that aimed at enhancing the quality of service to encourage patient satisfaction. Ensuring system availability and reliability of services provided across all accessible platforms (Berwick, Nolan, & Whittington, 2008).

Lastly, promoting the affordability of care through reducing the per capita expenditure describes the third approach necessary for implementation so as to achieve the Triple Aim initiative. Addressing this initiative, therefore, means making access to health care more affordable for every individual.  These dimensions mentioned earlier are necessary for simultaneously improving the U.S. health care system by introducing new processes that provide standardized measures for providing care to the nation’s population.
