Essay

Introduction

This paper explores the different ways in which you can turn your child into a prodigy. The ways in which intelligence can be nurtured from childhood, the methods that can be adopted to encourage this behaviour and the classes needed for children to gain intelligence.

Ways That Have Been Adopted

There have been some curious approaches to this including musicians who have played music to the child whilst still in the womb. Classical music is strongly favoured as an introduction to the intellectual elements of music.  Einstein as a baby was indicated to have listened to Classical music and had a series of disks with music, images, sounds and numbers. There does not appear to be any real scientific evidence to support this theory though. More recently it is believed that early introduction to numerical games can assist Children to build mathematical skills. Word games and crosswords are a great way to help children expand their vocabulary and learn spelling.  Spelling is critical to an early Childs literary skills and they should be encouraged to read books, in particular gaining picture (image) / word association skills.

Introducing children to sport at an early age can assist in the development of co-ordination skills. Tiger Woods was said to be swinging golf clubs around at the early age of 3. Another technique is throwing balls to one another as a means of improving hand to eye coordination. With Soccer it is said get the child to learn how to kick with both feet and practice dribbling the ball.  It is really the grasp of the basics or fundamentals at a young age. The early learning and experimentation helps them grow in confidence and most notable successes start at an early age – particularly noticed in athletes, swimmers and leading academicians.

In conclusion it is considered that the child requires 5 key elements to become a child prodigy. These are stated as: 1) The ability to concentrate and subsequently focus on task or mission accomplishment  2) A passion or enthusiasm for what they are learning, in a sense the determination to succeed  3) Early self-confidence and trust in their own basic instincts 4) Access to the right materials or equipment to facilitate success  5) The right education, in most cases personal tuition as opposed to group education that may hinder development.
