Do you agree that a business can use Twitter to gain business intelligence?
Businesses can use social media websites, such as Twitter, to gain business intelligence. Although Twitter is different from a majority of social media websites because it mainly provides businesses with qualitative data rather than quantitative data, smart businesses can use this information in a way that is meaningful to them. The qualitative data that the website provides to businesses can include information regarding popular opinions on certain products, which can be retrieved from engaging Twitter users either directly or by searching for and summarizing their information. Quantitative data primarily involves summaries of followers, numbers of retweets, and amount of responses.
How many companies do you think are aware of Twitter and exactly how they can use it to gain BI?
Although Twitter is a useful tool, it is primarily used as a form of social media for the world’s youth. However, many journalists and businesses have entered the world of Twitter to promote their products. Currently, not many businesses are aware that Twitter can be used to gain business intelligence, and of those that do, only some are able to use the site effectively. If Twitter is used by the company in an engaging way, then it is possible for them to direct the business intelligence they wish to receive.
How do you think Twitter uses a data warehouse?
Twitter uses a data warehouse to mine through the things that people tweet in order to identify trends. It then publishes these trends on its main website to encourage users to use a certain hashtag to catalog opinions that belong to a certain category. This makes it easier for Twitter employees to use this information to determine the success of the website as a whole. It can generate its annual and quarterly use based on this information, which will allow it to understand its reach compared to other forms of social media.
How would a company use Twitter in a data mart?
Twitter uses data marts primarily by implementing its hash tag feature that links tweets about similar topics together. Therefore, a company could use this method to look for certain tweets that pertains to its business. This will allow the company to determine what its competitors are doing on Twitter, which includes information about their products in addition to their marketing techniques. Furthermore, it provides information about the general population’s interest in the product and service, in addition to the demographic groups that would be most likely to want or need what is being sold.
How would a company use cubes to analyze Twitter data?
Data cubes can be used to extract information from a stack of data, which is necessary for the type of information that can be obtained from Twitter users. In particular, the cubes can be used to determine out of the group of Twitter users that may be interested in the product, which ones are likely to already have the product, which ones follow competitors, etc. It is useful to use this method to group Twitter users together according to a variety of different characteristics so that the company is able to understand certain aspects of their target group. This is necessary because this information is dense and difficult to understand while simply reading through Twitter profiles and statistics.
