Type of Drivers, Research Paper Example

Research Paper

Introduction

We have several types of drivers around us that should not be considered to drive. Such drivers include the drunk drivers, distracted drivers and the elder people drivers. Driving while drinking is very dangerous that can lead to the injuries at the road highway and some of the extraordinary deaths. Such drivers should be suspended from driving or their driving license should be withdrawn. Their vehicle number plates should be confiscated and should also be immobilized. Such  kind of drivers should be penalized heavily or sending them to jails for driving while drunk as well  as introducing some education to them concerning the effects of driving while drunk and how it can affect the community.

In spite of the decrease in number of accidents caused by the drunk drivers in the past decades, still there is a lot to be done in such preventable accidents. Since any death or injury as a result of driving while drunk can be totally prevented. The fact still remains that the few drivers who are involved in serious crashes have a low blood alcohol concentration in their body. Most of the male drivers fall into this deadly trap than the female drivers. The sobriety courts can also help into this problem by addressing the issue of the hard- core repeat. All these measure must be scientifically assessed thoroughly to verify their possible involvement towards the safety improvement. This is also well explained in the graph below on how the high blood alcohol concentration drivers have ditched themselves into the risk of crashes.

Statistics has also indicated that not only the drunk drivers cause the accidents but the distracted drivers as well. A driver can be distracted in many forms while driving. A driver can be listening to a loud music, talking on a phone or communicating with the passengers instead of concentrating in driving. The driver might be putting the passengers, other vehicles and himself into a great danger while doing this. Cell phones have gotten a negative attention to this matter. Talking on the cell phone makes the driver not to put all of the focus on what is happening around and as a result the driver can land the vehicle into a big ditch hence causing the accident. Therefore the drivers are required to postpone all the calls when in the heavy traffic or any other weather condition that is hazardous.

The drivers should not take notes or look up for any incoming phone numbers while on the road driving. They should place the calls when in any case they are not moving or before pulling into any traffic. But the best thing to be done is just to put off the phones while driving. The heated or stressful communications can also lead to destruction of drivers just like the phones, and if all the two are put together is a formula to a big disaster.

According to the Nationwide Personal Transportation Survey, the elderly drivers are prone to be involved in the road crashes than all the other drives. This can be caused by the ignorance of the traffic rules and being unable to turn on one direction or another very fast while on the road driving. Since they also face the physical abilities, they are likely to get more injuries in any crash than the younger drivers. The two main individualities of the elderly drivers have a great negative effect on their habits of driving. There must be some measures put aside to get them out of the roads since they are dangerous to some innocent people as well as themselves. I think there should be some strict license renewal for the elderly people like the age of sixty five and above. This should be taking place within the three months.

Conclusion

The road accidents reduce the number of people in a given community. Therefore the government spends a lot of the tax in insuring the people as well as the vehicle owners. Doing this takes the economy a step backwards. On the other hand, the improved roads and well maintained vehicles can significantly contribute to the increased safety of the highway, therefore reducing the accidents. This safety may include the corrugations along the edges of the roads. The corrugation emits the sound when driven over them. As a result it will alert the drivers who are inattentive towards their inappropriate locations. This can be a good measure for reducing the accidents on the highway.
