Photosynthesis is a process of converting dioxide into organic compounds. This feature is observed in all kinds of plants such as seaweeds, bacteria, algae and many others. New glucose molecules are generated during the whole life cycle of each plant. The glucose is then converted into energy, which is used by the plant to grow leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. Secondly, by converting glucose into cellulose plants get necessary material to build their cell walls. Plants usually produce a lot more cellulose then they need to survive. Therefore, it is stored in their leaves, steam and roots in form of carbohydrates.
Cellular fermentation and respiration are catabolic, energy-meargeing pathways.
The energy is stored in the display of atoms in the organic compounds. Difficult organic compounds are usually decomposed with the help of enzymes. By decomposing organic compounds plant gets the necessary energy and reduces the amount of waste products. All the remaining energy is released as heat. Moreover, if the plant lacks energy, it takes extra resources out of storage. Fermentation is a catabolic process of decomposing sugars without the help of oxygen. The most resourceful catabolic pathway is cellular respiration, where oxygen is consumed as a reactant along with the organic fuel. In eukaryotic cells, most of the metabolic resources for cellular respiration are accommodated by mitochondria.
Several types of archaebacteria, modern bacteria-like organisms, also carry out the process where green plants and other living organisms turn carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates and oxygen, using light energy trapped by chlorophyll differently. For instance, purple sulfur and the mud-dwelling green sulfur archaebacteria use hydrogen sulfide instead of water in photosynthesis. Therefore, these types of archaebacteria release sulfur, not the oxygen. Along with hydrogen sulfide, gives off a foul smell. According to Entranta Encyclopedia, “halobacteria, archaebacteria found in the salt flats of deserts, rely on the pigment bacteriorhodopsin instead of chlorophyll for photosynthesis” (2009). Archaebacteria does not complete the whole process of photosynthesis, as they do not produce glucose. Halobacteria are one the most ancient organisms, and are supposed to be the starting point for the evolution of photosynthesis.
Nonetheless, there are many organisms, which do not tolerate oxygen. They form ATP from inorganic phosphate and ADP phosphorylations that do not engage the crumple of proton gradients across membranes. The fuels of life or cellular furnace are burned.
