Introduction

As noted on the company profile, “Ultimate Software is a leading provider of unified human capital management (HCM). This software is utilized by some of the top internet based and software providing corporations. The organization’s main focus is providing optimal and efficient human resource, payroll and payroll service software, for other companies. Ultimate Software is a progressive productive corporation that shows more positive aspects than good upon close evaluation.  This is in part due to its small size and infrastructure that is largely intellectual property based, which provide it much leeway in a global culture and tech driven economy. This involvement is what has established Ultimate Software’s corporate culture. It can be seen in the employee morale from the bottom to the top of the organization, and in that staff are encouraged to contribute to all innovations and knowledge based research.

Analysis

Policy

There has never been a formal productivity statement issued to employees by Ultimate Software, but they have an understood open communication policy. “According to the Great Places to Work Institute (GPTWI), the best medium-sized company to work for is Ultimate Software, an HR management software development company in Florida. In assessing how Ultimate’s HR practices created a powerfully positive working environment, GPTWI focused on its open communication policies and heavy emphasis on participative decision making (Jack Walters, p117).” There is Employees are allowed to contribute and shape corporate culture through weekly staff meetings. All departments work seamlessly independent of one another and at the same time they work efficiently together.  It is debatable as to whether or not the organization’s power structure allows for the necessary functions for productivity as the company is still young and technology based, but the company is open to innovation.

Leadership

The leadership of Ultimate Software from the board of Directors to the    Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer Scott Scherr takes a hands on approach to dealing with customers and employees.  The fact that the company has no more than 1,100 employees and sells a product that it also utilized as a key component of their infrastructure allows for an organizational culture embedded in an integrity that is contagious throughout the power structure from top to bottom. There is perfect unity and balance within this business model.

Inputs

The organization’s information system monitors human and material resource through its main product UltiPro, which manages all income input and output.  The same service is used to keep employees satisfaction it is also supplied to client organizations for salary management and efficiency, as well as to enhance HR practices.

Performance

Ultimate Software is recognized globally within the software supply industry for their in-house use of ergonomics to innovate and implement a technology they call UltiPro, “a unified approach to managing the employee life cycle” to enhance performance. Ergonomics is a science of equipment design that maximizes productivity by increasing comfort and making equipment use more convenient.

Technology

At its core, Ultimate Software a technology supply company.  It competes by remaining at the forefront of technological advancements in software production, which is utilized by corporations to monitor and manage salary information.

Work Procedures

Ultimate Software quality of product development and distribution is sustained through close intercultural communications between management and staff. UltiPro software is a product designed to optimize organizational efficiency as well as accountability for employee payments. Self regulation is a large part of Ultimate Software work procedures, as the company is significantly small, but security and safety plays a minimal role in the productivity.

Staff

Ultimate Software has a solid level of command that starts from the ground up and allows for growth. Mostly every programmers, or software engineer working for the company has at one point started at entry-level positions and the same goes for the bulk of management.  The bulk of the staff has education background in computer science, technology, engineering, or math related fields individuals who find satisfaction in solving problems and finding solutions.

Conclusion

In sum, Ultimate Software is an edgy progressive U.S. based technology supply company that produces results for both employees and investors. The policies are very laid back, but are exceptional for a company  of such minimal size, only composed of 1,100 employees. The company is young and promising and can maintain its current stellar HR practices if it keeps its current trend of intimate employee and management engagement.
