Understanding the African Literary Culture, Research Paper Example

Pages: 2

Words: 616

Research Paper

It is often mentioned that the literary history of any nation defines the history that makes up the people living in such a country. Notably, the creative literary presentations that have been collected within a particular generation sums up the culture of that civilization as it grows in a particular region of the world. As for my personal concern, I would like to know more about the African literature and how it further defines the African people, their life, their thoughts and their intellectual understanding of the society they are living in. To know more about this, I would personally like to explore on the magazine founded in 1961 in Ghana that is noted as the Okyeame. In relation to this, I would like to see how the birth of literary-based thinking and development has affected the African nation and its progress towards practical civilization. Knowing that this the Okyeame is more of a political magazine, I expect to find out how communication is rather commanded in Ghana and the entirety of Africa during the time when the said magazine was released and how it basically affected the situation of modern African communication system today.

Body of the Research

The body of my research shall be based on an extensive referencing of important documentations that stand for the importance of the Okyeame magazine in the course of establishing both the African politics and literary excellence. As lead by the Ghanian Prime Minister himself, [Kwame Nkrumah], it is expected that the references would bear a definition on how much controlled reported speech was during the time. While it is true that the magazine paved the way for the noticeable recognition of literary intellects in the country, it is also assumed that publications that are lead under political courses of administration often end up being controlled by the government hence making the information they contain rather biased [most often than not dependent on the need to present the good side of the nation’s administrative government]. How true is this when it comes to the publication of Okyeame? This is what is going to be defined in the presentation that I am hoping to discuss within my research. Relatively, answering this question would post more than just an understanding of the literary culture that existed in Africa but would also explain so much about the nation’s political condition that specifically affects the capability of its people to redefine their position in the society as members of a nation who have the right to their opinion and suggestions towards a better form of governance.

Conclusion

Overall, it could be said that literature is to be treated in this research as a source of understanding not only of the intellect of the people behind the said art but would also impose on the understanding of the political system that used to control the African society [specifically focused in Ghana]. Understandably, it could be analyzed that through the utilization of the Okeame magazine as the primary focal point of the discussion in my research, I would be able to create a properly corresponding definition as to what the African literature is known for and how it specifically insisted on the realities behind the actual administrational governance that is being used in the country. With this research, exposition is expected to be discovered and a clear understanding about the integrity of the African literature is hoped to be realized as well.
