Introduction
The experiences in United States since 1783 to 1870 economically, socially and politically have changed significantly. According to the promises of revolution, some these experiences are fulfil while others have not yet been fulfilled. We are going to find out whether the society is characterised by social equality, individual economic opportunity and political democracy.
American Revolution
The American Revolution transpired when the colonist wanted to gain their independence, take hold of the parliamentary authority, and form their own policies. This friction grew to a point where the colonist stated to boycott goods that are imported, they began burning of the English officials effigies, and they formed the vigilante association that started riots. At first, the colonist did not know they were fighting for their independence, but rather thought that they were fighting against the corrupt government representatives. King George III made the act of rebellion unlawful. This was met by harsh reactions from the American colonist. They made a mission of fighting for their rights and forming the government. The importance of the revolution was to increase the liberties of the white women and the freedom of trade for the farmers, mechanics and the merchants.
English revolutionaries like Thomas Paine enlightened the American colonist of the political philosophies by creating an easy to read pamphlets. Leaders representing the colonist were to be accountable and partial. The American colonist were of the notion that the governments work is to provide protection and service to the people, therefore, if they do not follow this rule then they are to fight to find a better leadership. The American Revolution was the core founder of the worldwide age revolution. The first all black republic when the slaves rebelled against the colonial power in Haiti the year 1871. In 1819, Haiti will finally gain their independence when Simon Bolivar carries the independence touch from Haiti to his hometown in Venezuela. Mexico also got their independence in 1821 after South America. In the beginning, the revolution was a society concept for people equality and liberty. Though this was the concept for white people in America, it was later a principle for democracy in America.
Social equality
After the revolution war ended in 1873 the British, army had to leave America. Some states in America the Supreme Court, had to abolish slavery. This caused some to people to gain independence in their own homes. The State of Virginia made people who were slaves fighting the continental war to gain independence. Some free black men in the state of Massachusetts were kidnapped and made slaves in Martinique. This made the state of Massachusetts to barn slave trade.
In December 23 1783, the commander in chief of the rebel army George Washington went in front of the congress and ended the commission. In terms of education, the George Town University was the first catholic university started by John Carroll. In 1800 Gabriel Prosser, an African American slave from Virginia started a revolution to help them gain their independence. This revolution is uncovered, and Prosser and his followers were caught and hanged. This shows that social equality after the revolution was not fully installed for all the citizens in America. Although there is much progress in terms of equality, a lot of work needs to be done.
Economic opportunities
After the revolution war the country suffers economically due to the shortage of money, the taxes were high, bankruptcy, the agricultural sector most farms were closed. In 1786, representatives met in order to discuss how to solve the economic issues. They made demands get more paper money to be made as credit. A former revolution fighter Daniel Shay forms a rebel to fight for the enactment of paper money. The congress had to formulate constitution convents due to the rebellions. They formulated three branches consisting of the judicial, legislature, and executive will protect the revenue from tyrants and be distributed evenly to all people.
Political democracy
The first presidential election was in 1796 where john Adams became the president while the vice president was Thomas Jefferson. The first president was George Washington who dies in 1799 at Mount Vernon. As of 1870, there have been 18 presidents in America. In 1800, Washington DC is made the capital city for United States of America from formerly Philadelphia. The congress met for the first time in the new city. In 1801 elections, Thomas Jefferson is elected president. The congress was made unconstitutional when the Marbury vs. Madison made the Supreme Court have additional powers. The state of Ohio passes a law in which slavery is an abomination in 1802.
During the same year, Thomas Jefferson is accused of keeping one of the slaves sally Heming’s as a concubine for so many years. In 1850, the then president, dies making the vice president Millard Fillmore as the new president. The Homestead Act was made law in 1863 in which it allowed the settlers who have lived in America for more than five years to have land. In 1870, the fifteenth amendment is allowing the blacks to vote. The political life after the revolution has changed significantly to a point where little changes of equality that has enabled even the black citizen the rights to vote.
Conclusion
The American Revolution paved the way for people to change their lives economically, socially and political. This revolution made other countries fight for their independence. People in America were mainly fighting for equality, which was not fully passed on after independence. Slavery in some states was abolished, and an enactment was formed in which the black people had rights to vote. There has been improvement in terms of economy from the moment the revolution ended.
