For the revision of budget and implementation plan, we have selected scenario A that is mandatory and scenario b. In scenario A, we will replace the firewall and a router for reducing 9% amount from the overall budget. As per the current scenario, firewall and router costs $4300 and the new equipment i.e. router integrated with a firewall costs $3500. We have been granted a 15 day demo for switches, routers and firewalls from the vendors in order to evaluate performance of these devices. As a result, these devices can be replaced within the 15 day time period. Moreover, by eliminating router and a firewall, we can compensate 1% cost for total cost of ownership and electricity charges. We will install the new device and replace the old device for a 10% budget cut without impacting any requirements of the organization. For scenario b, end user training will be added. As per the current scope, there are no training programs for the available staff. We will incorporate periodic training for the employees of Stush for acceptable use of systems/data/ network and awareness on information security.

Security Requirements

As per the security requirements of the organization, the new firewall integrated router will support all the security requirements, as mentioned in the previous report. Hence, there will be no impact on security requirement of the company.

Security Policies

Similarly, there will be no impact on the security policy, as the ownership and criteria and configuration settings will not impact the requirements mentioned in the network policy. However, the responsibilities for the network staff will be modified. Currently, network staff will monitor and evaluate the firewall connecting to business critical systems. As per the modified equipment, the network staff is now responsible for monitoring and evaluating the router for threats, vulnerabilities and risks.

For the new scope and implementation plan, we have already mentioned a replacement of a router and a firewall with firewall integrated router.

Conclusion

We have replaced the hardware with a low cost hardware while retaining all the features intact. Therefore, there is no impact on the proposed network design and network policy. However, minor changes are already discussed in this plan. Moreover, for user training, an ongoing training program will be carried out by one of the staff members throughout. Furthermore, budget is also reduced by 10% i.e. 8% cost is eliminated by replacing the hardware and 2% cost is eliminated by reducing the total cost of ownership and electricity.
