This essay aims at analyzing the address of US ambassador to Saudi Arabia, at Alfaisal to young Saudi audience. The various device and tools of which the speaker used to achieve the goal of performance is the focus of the paper.

To start with, the main objective of the lecture was to highlight the role of America’s higher education in generating sustained momentum on innovation as the key to delivering today global economy. At the end of the lecture, most audiences were convinced that the US higher education is determined to deliver the global economy and thus its objective was achieved.

From the beginning, the Ambassador opened the presentation by clearly establishing the intent of the lecture and was focused throughout the presentation. He used low context style of communication; this means that, all his statements and messages were explicit. His presentation was logically organized and easy to follow. To improve the audience understanding, the ambassador used some quotes from famous people and explained prospective of success. He also used many examples from his personal experience. Again, From time to time the ambassador made some few jokes to ensure that the audiences were not bored. All along the presentation, he maintained an eye contact with the audience that I believe was effective in connecting with the audience. One important thing to note is that the ambassador ensured that all his illustration, stories, and argument relates to the primary objective throughout the presentation. At the end of the presentation, he allowed an open discussion and answered few question from the discussion. He smoothly bridged from one part of the presentation to other.

In addition, all the delivery skills and techniques used were effective and served the purpose. The screen used in the presentation was big enough. Thus, the information and pictures were very clear. Moreover, the microphone and speakers used made it easy to hear. At the end of the presentation, all the audience were enthusiastic about the presentation and were convinced that US higher education is dedicated toward delivering the global economy.
