Pages: 1

Words: 296

Essay

The implication of LPGA is “Ladies Professional Golf Association” that entails an organization comprising of professional women golfers that is based in the United States, and with its headquarters in Daytona Beach in Florida. LPGA is famous in propagating LPGA Tour that entails tournaments in golf that is executed in series on weekly basis comprising of elite female across the globe. LPGA is one of the organizations that deal in sports that are involved sex-cards that are played for the purpose of attracting fans. In this respect therefore, the paper posits to evaluate if LPGA is supposed to use sex appeal to attract a larger audience or if the approach is liable to destroy the professionalism of the sport. This has been a topic that has attracted discussion and no perfect answer has been derived since both sides of the argument has important points (Beach & Myers, 2001).

Some people will argue that, using the game for the purpose of marketing sex appeal of the ladies as well as assisting the ladies progress in their career is unethical. This viewpoint is clearly understood and appreciable as one side of the argument. On the other side of the argument, the issue of LPGA using sex appeal to attract a larger audience is nothing more than promoting the game. According to their argument, sex sells over and above anything else and its use in the promotion of the game in innovative markets across the globe should be cherished. LPGA have all the liberty to apply higher powers that rests in the modeling and display of their bodies in attempts of promoting their game and there is nothing wrong with that.
